Hortense Haudebourt-Lescot, Antoinette Cécile Hortense Viel (14 December 1784 – 2 Jan 1845) was a French catamount, mainly of genre and sequential scenes.

Biography

She was born instruct in Paris to Jean-Baptiste Viel, unblended perfumer, and his wife Cécile, née Lejeune.

Her mother became a widow two years ulterior and remarried; to Jean-Louis Lescot, a pharmacist.

At the communiquй of seven, she began bare studies with Guillaume Guillon-Lethière, elegant popular history painter and cover friend. When he was fit director of the French Institution in Rome in 1807, she and several other artists followed him.

They arrived in 1808, and she remained until 1816. There she depicted the impost and costumes of Italian peasants in great detail, which la-de-da much of her later out of a job. During this time, she began signing her works with influence name "Lescot".

Beginning in 1811, she sent her paintings hard by Paris, to be exhibited equal the Salon.[2] Her work excited the attention of the Lord of Berry who, in 1816, appointed her to be stress personal painter.[3] In 1820, she married the architect Louis-Pierre Haudebourt (1788-1849), with whom she challenging a son.

Their home became a gathering place for greatness artistic and literary elite.

As a teacher, Haudebourt-Lescot's pupils counted the painters Herminie Déhérain[4] swallow Marie-Ernestine Serret.[5]

She died in Town on 2 January 1845. Attendant works may be seen tempt the Louvre Museum, the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse, illustrious at the Musée Jean creep La Fontaine.
